Time to splash a little colour on masculinity….
My client today is a creative, adventurous, sporty male…..
He dislikes shopping, mostly because he is time poor but likes to be comfortable and stylish at all times.
He is a designer, running his own business which doesn’t require him to dress formally very often, only when attending meetings or functions.
Our first meeting, over a coffee, is all about working out his individual colour palette, his current needs, an all-important budget and a date/time for our outing.
It didn’t take too long to work out my clients colour palette, he is a bright winter….. strives to be snappy…..prefers block colour over pattern and now with some guidance he will look his best in true blue, vivid, sharp, clear and icy hues.
He finds this a little hard to get his head around as his favourite colours are muted and natural hues. He has been wearing these hues most of his life, which I often see with male clients, maybe his mother was an autumn? He very quickly embraced the information I was giving him and could easily see the difference. His attractive bright blue eyes popped and his complexion looked healthier and brighter instantly.
As we go through his existing clothes and discuss what future events he has coming up , the decision is made that he doesn’t have the need for any more formal clothing at the present time. So for now, we will focus only on his work, casual and gym wear.
I have now collected all the information I need to do my research. Saturday afternoon, 1pm in the city is locked in and before he departs he informs me that he can only give me two and a half hours…… oh no…. the life of a stylist…..
Saturday has arrived and I’m ready to style in two and a half hours! My work for today has been very well planned and a circuit of stores noted. Before meeting my client I have visited the stores on my list, selected all the clothes which have been put aside to make this as efficient as possible.
Coffee time…..stylists do drink a lot of coffee…..
We have a brief chat about what I have organised and share some photos of what I’m thinking before the fun starts.
My job here today as a stylist is….keep my client in his new colour palette, giving him lots of basic options, make sure all the clothes are middle of the road in price to suit his budget and to make sure everything fits extremely well as comfort is a top priority. Linen has been selected as the fabric of choice because it’s natural and breathable.
Two and a half hours and yes, we have finished…. my client is very happy, he can now head to beach and catch a few waves before going out to dinner. As for me, I return to my studio with the clothing haul to complete the final stage of my styling. All my clients receive photos of their clothing, styled as flat lays so that they always know how best to wear them
A great personal portfolio of their new style.
It’s all about curating a man’s style for comfort, ease and versatility.
A male must always be style appropriate, never overdressed or undressed while keeping it simple yet stylish.
Style 1….. Relaxed work wear.
Keep the pants long, be work appropriate. A little hidden elastic in the waist works wonders, giving seated comfort. Navy is the hue and linen is the fabric. Linen for breathability….navy, simply the perfect neutral.
Layering on shirts in one hue but different tones for character. Adding in a pair of Derby’s, a great wardrobe staple. Finishing with a masculine necklace, featuring a deep blue sapphire … working this man’s attractive eyes…..remember boys, always feature your assets.
Selected, sorted and curated.
Style 2…..Casual wear.
Layer up the shirts even when dressing in summer casuals and think cool and comfy linen shorts in a neutral. One should always improve his shoe game, keeping them stylish yet casual. Try a leather Derby in a must-have white. Add a little bit of creativity, yes, even for you boys! A bead necklace will do the trick ….. not sure how, ask us at Forge Chiffon.
Style 3…..Sunday brunch.
Feeling fearless? Add a splash of colour to the mix.
When your next having breakfast by the beach ….. keep it relaxed but show you now know your stuff and add one of your best colours. Remember, uniqueness even in your casual style shapes your identity.
Throw on a straw hat…… be sun safe.
Style 4…..Gym wear.
A sporty male needs to keep up to date with his selection of active wear.
Feeling good about one’s style is always a priority even if it’s just to get sweaty in…….
Finish with a masculine necklace, featuring a deep blue sapphire … working this man’s attractive eyes…..remember boys, always feature your assets.
