A Moment to Remember....
Let’s talk retail therapy…
Some may say that retail therapy is a materialistic solution to feelings of unhappiness, that will only last but a moment… and I must admit I am guilty of having the same mind-set (even though I too use shopping as an emotional outlet)… however after a recent encounter, my perception on fashion and accessories as a cure for the blues has been perpetually changed as I witnessed how a single purchase of a Spencer and Rutherford handbag had the ability to bring such light into a lady’s life in a time of need.
This lovely lady had wandered into our studio a number of times, with her eye captivated by the Spencer and Rutherford Olivia Crossbody…
A bag rich in feminine detail with the perfect blend of fabrics, textures and delicate pastel hues… Olivia has such personality bringing a creative element to any look, while elevating even the most causal of outfits. She is pretty, practical and always a pleasure to style.
…Each time our lovely lady would pop in, she would drape Olivia over her shoulder, continuing to be intrigued by the bags allure and always leaving mentioning “I promise I will be back to buy the bag”.
A few weeks had passed, and she strolled back in to admire the bag once more… also sharing with us some saddening news that she had received that day, in which we were truly sorry…
Walking over to the cabinet in which Olivia was sitting, her eyes suddenly glistened with joy…
She turned to us and said, “I really need this bag today”.
We were simply astounded by the bags ability to brighten the dullest of emotions in an instant. Her manner had completely changed…
We enjoyed having a discussion with her on how best she would style it with a blazer and a new pair of shoes which she embraced with a passion and then the excitement started to build with the thought of showing Olivia off to her group of friends at a lunch planned especially for her the next day.
Our lovely lady even started referring to the bag as ‘her’ as though she was more than a bag, but a much-needed friend in such a gloomy time.
For her this bag was not just a purchase, rather it had a purpose…to allow her to feel a rush of positivity whenever Olivia swings from her shoulder or even when simply glancing down and getting a glimpse of the bags undeniably beauty.
So, after hearing this inspiriting story of a lady and her new Spencer and Rutherford bag, we ask is retail therapy materialistic after all?...
If you ask me… if treating yourself to an item that you have been pondering over for a while can bring you this much joy… I say go for it!
Olivia certainly is one special handbag and LOOK how she completes this look….
“ONE VERY STYLISH LADY”……
