When it comes to blazer’s… like we said it’s the trend that keeps on giving! Which has encouraged designers to reimagine the closet classic, creating an array of new silhouettes allowing every body shape to find a blazer that flatters.
Firstly let’s have a quick chat about body shape and how I differentiate between each.
We all know body shape can be a touchy subject and the traditional ways of defining a woman body come with many negative connotations. But at Forge Chiffon we look at each body shape as individually beautiful and therefore see each silhouette represented by one of five blooming flowers.
These florals include…
Lavender: A lavender’s silhouette is slender and straight with their shoulders and hips having similar measurements.
Rose bud: A rose bud’s silhouette has killer curves with full hips and a smaller bust.
Lily: A lily’s silhouette has beautiful broad shoulders, smaller hips and slender legs.
Tulip: A tulip’s silhouette has a fuller bust and a wider torso with show-stopping legs.
Blue bell: A blue bell’s silhouette is balanced and in perfect proportion with a fuller bust and well-defined waist.
Now we have a better understanding of our body shapes, let me show you how this long-line statement blazer can be styled to flatter each body shape, drawing attention to their best features.
This blazer as is, is perfect for our lavenders and rosebuds. For lavender’s the structure of this blazer with its darted tailoring gives shape to your naturally straight physique by defining the waist and bringing fullness to the chest. Style this blazer open or buttoned up… either way is a go-to look for lavender’s, creating curves in all the right places.
Rose buds, you will also look exquisite in this blazer, the enhanced shoulders and contoured waist gives you the illusion of even proportions. However, rose buds you may need to size up to allow the fabric to fall gently over the hips for a supremely flattering fit.
Lily silhouettes will be able to style this blazer with minimal effort for maximum impact by simply taking out the shoulder pads, drawing attention away from the shoulders. As this blazer has a defined structure and tapers out at the waist, it gives the illusion of wider hips, giving our lily’s proportion for perfection.
Tulips, you will need to adjust the length slightly to show off your best feature… your legs! When styling the blazer, open is best as this will elongate the torso and glide over the waist… this clever styling will make the torso appear in proportion to the width of the hips… having you looking and feeling your best.
Finally, blue bell ladies must accentuate their waist to expose their perfect contours. To achieve this, simply wear the blazer buttoned up or slide on an oh-so-now statement belt for a chic update that defines the waist.
Now while body proportion will affect how you style the blazer, so will height. The simplest style solution is to adjust the length of the blazer according to your height. Taller frames will be able to carry this long-line cut well, while our petite ladies will need to adjust the length closer to their hips if they wish to wear it as a blazer… but why not redefine its purpose and style it into a must- have blazer dress for fresh femininity with a sophisticated edge?
